It seems that lately Adam and I are constantly on the move. (I know half of you just groaned and exclaimed “wait til you have kids!” But since we’re not there yet....) We’re running from meetings to screenings to work at home. And that doesn’t include the move from our old apartment to our temporary apartment 5 doors down... and in a month, back again. I’m certainly not complaining; I love being busy.
But all of this culminates into one of our most exciting moves yet -- moving into our very own Production Office! It is official! The lease has been signed, furniture is in (...some of it anyway) and we begin use of our fabulous office Thursday, October 15th! We’re all very excited and thankful to have this space. We definitely thought long and hard about taking a production office and what that would mean for our production. Ultimately, here were the positives that made us decide this was the right decision:
-
1)“Something outside of our apartment.” It’s fine to bring your friends up to your place for meetings but it doesn’t look very professional to hold casting sessions in your private residence. We’re not that kind of production.
-
2)“Kinda glad you don’t know where we live.” Don’t get me wrong, I want to get to know our cast and crew, but I’d rather not have production meetings, position interviews and casting sessions in my apartment. You never know who will decide to drop back by again to see if they got the part.
-
3)“A sense of normalcy.” It’s not easy to work and sleep and eat and play all in the same space day in, day out with your husband/wife. We both needed a place to “leave our work” at the end of the day and to come home to be a family. It’s a little normal in our lives.
-
4)“Good people.” We were offered a really wonderful deal since we’ll only be renting from now until mid-January. (we need time for pre-production, production and time to wrap up our work and get all of our furniture out hence mid-October through mid-January) Our management company gave us a lot of help and we truly appreciate them. They’re good people to work with.
We’ve already started to move in and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. We’ll post more pictures later this week.
Everything else is really moving along nicely. Casting is going better then we ever dreamed. We’re definitely looking forward to updates on that front very soon! We’re crewing up, music sounds fantastic and locations are being secured. Whew! The mind reels!

Off we go!
